Honoring the Living Disciples of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

Mayapur, February 2026 — During the GBC Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2026 held in Sri Mayapur Dham, Madan Mohan Dasa presented an inspiring update on the heartfelt “Gift Prabhupada” project — a global initiative dedicated to honoring and reconnecting with the living disciples of ISKCON’s Founder-Acarya, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

The project, supported by the Governing Body Commission (GBC), seeks to express gratitude to Srila Prabhupada’s surviving disciples by presenting each of them with a small, lifelike brass murti of their spiritual master. This sacred offering stands as a symbol of appreciation for their decades of dedication, sacrifice, and service in spreading Krishna consciousness worldwide.

A Sacred Gift with Deep Meaning

Approximately 2,500 disciples of Srila Prabhupada are still living, and as of now, around 1,800 murtis have already been distributed. The project is nearing completion, marking a significant milestone in ISKCON’s history.

Each murti is uniquely crafted from alloy brass made with coins donated for Srila Prabhupada’s books in the 25 countries he personally visited. This detail adds profound spiritual symbolism — the very contributions made for spreading transcendental knowledge are now transformed into a form of gratitude offered back to his direct disciples.

The presentation box itself serves as a small altar and includes a sacred relic: a piece of the jackfruit tree under which Srila Prabhupada was born in Kolkata. Thus, every element of the gift carries historical, devotional, and emotional significance.

Reconnecting with ISKCON’s Most Precious Treasure

In a brief interview with GBC Communications Director Parijata Devi Dasi, Madan Mohan Dasa — who serves as a GBC deputy and initiating guru — shared the deeper purpose behind the initiative.

He explained that many disciples were deeply moved upon receiving the murti. Some responded with tears of gratitude and renewed spiritual inspiration. For certain disciples who may have felt distant or overlooked in recent years, the gesture became a powerful reminder that they are remembered and cherished.

“Each and every one of them is precious… a living proof of Srila Prabhupada’s spiritual potency and mercy… ISKCON’s most valuable treasure,”

— Madan Mohan Dasa

The project also created a comprehensive database of Srila Prabhupada’s disciples, helping maintain ongoing contact and connection with them. Even as the main distribution phase concludes, plans are in place to continue making the murtis available at Srila Prabhupada’s birthplace in Kolkata.

A Legacy of Gratitude

The “Gift Prabhupada” initiative is more than a ceremonial gesture — it is an expression of institutional gratitude, spiritual unity, and historical continuity. Srila Prabhupada’s disciples are the first generation who directly received his instructions and personal guidance. Their sacrifices laid the foundation for the global expansion of Krishna consciousness.

By honoring them, ISKCON honors its

roots.

As the GBC AGM 2026 continues in the holy dham of Mayapur, this project stands as a reminder that gratitude and remembrance are essential pillars of spiritual culture.
